Dr. Khaled Al -Anani, UNESCO Executive Director, commented on his victory by being involved in this position as the first Arab, saying: Today, the UNESCO Executive Council chose me to take over the position of general manager, and I feel deeply grateful towards this moment, because of its responsibility and opportunity to achieve hope.

Al -Anani continued through his Facebook account: I extend my sincere thanks to the Executive Council for the confidence that I gave me, and I salute my candidate colleague with the highest verses of respect and appreciation.
Al -Anani added: My campaign was based on the principle of listening and communication: I visited sixty -five countries, and I had more than 400 meetings with women and men, whose ideas and aspirations formed the basis of my vision. This vision was placed for them and their participation, rooted in their voices, and bearing common aspirations.
Al -Anani continued: While we are awaiting the vote of the general conference next month, I confirm my commitment to listen to all opinions and continue the desired work of us, and if my appointment is confirmed, I will carry this collective confidence as a compass that directs my career: work with integrity, building bridges of understanding between the various regions of the world, and achieving the vision of “UNESCO for the people” to be a vision that represents everyone.
