Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Siraj, Governor of Sohag, criticized the head of one of the governorate’s neighborhoods, during a surprise field tour, after he noticed occupations and encroachments on both sides of some of the main streets in the neighborhood, saying: Do I have to go down by myself so that the occupations in the streets are removed? What does the neighborhood do?

The governor stressed the need to immediately remove all occupations from the streets and public squares, issue reports for violators, and take deterrent legal measures against them, noting that the street belongs to everyone and may not be infringed upon in any way.
He also called on the owners of restaurants and shops to put clear pricing in front of the public, to prevent any exploitation or manipulation of prices, stressing that the concerned authorities in the governorate will continue their oversight campaigns to control the markets and protect citizens.
During his tour, the governor inspected a number of taxis on the road, and made sure to ask citizens about the extent of drivers’ compliance with the set fares, stressing that he would not tolerate any violations that affect citizens’ rights or disrupt traffic within the city.
