According to CIA World Factbook, the CIA’s fact, a comprehensive and reliable reference source produced by the CIA, the Gulf states top the list of the world’s highest countries in the average number of men compared to women, according to recent international data that reveals a clear disparity in the demographic balance due to dependence on expatriate workers. The normal rate at birth is about 1.07 males for each female, but the numbers in the Gulf exceed this rate by a big difference.
Bahrain came in third place in the world with 1.50 men for every woman. This high number reflects the flow of foreign workers on which the Kingdom depends, especially in sectors that attract male workers more, which led to the widening gap between the number of men and women in society.
As for Qatar, it ranked first in the world at a rate of 3.32 men for every woman, which is the highest in the world ever. This large percentage is linked to the nature of the Qatari economy based on infrastructure and energy projects that attract huge numbers of male foreign workers.
The UAE ranked second with a rate of 2.13 men for every woman, where the same demographic factor highlights, with huge numbers of expatriates working in the fields of construction, services and energy, which made the percentage a lot far from the normal global average.
As for the rest of the mattresses, Kuwait came fourth with 1.36 men for each woman, followed by Saudi Arabia at 1.31, then Oman sixth at a rate of 1.16. Equatorial Guinea also replaced the seventh at the same rate of 1.16, while Jordan came eighth by 1.10 men for each woman.
These variations are not just statistical numbers, but rather are reflected directly on the social and economic structure, from the rates of marriage and childbearing to the labor market that is dominated by males in these countries.
