The government has reservations about a draft parliamentary law stipulating the disbursement of a housing allowance of 100 dinars per month from the date of acceptance of the housing application, stressing that reconsidering the draft law is a necessary step to preserve the sustainability of housing programs and enhance their effectiveness in serving citizens, within an integrated development vision that balances temporary support and long-term investment in residential infrastructure.
She stressed that there is no need for the proposed draft law, in light of the existence of an effective housing system that regulates the disbursement of housing allowance within a flexible, developable framework that is commensurate with economic and social changes. The proposed project is also presented in the absence of a financial study showing the scope of costs and their future effects, and is not accompanied by a legislative framework that provides the necessary legal cover for public spending, which violates the constitutional frameworks governing the approval of the general budget, and in its current form, it redirects resources towards temporary solutions at the expense of sustainable solutions, without achieving a direct construction impact, which weakens the existing balance between interim support and projects. Long-term construction projects and disrupts the methodology used in managing this vital file.
