The gold market in Egypt witnessed remarkable stability today, Friday, October 31, 2025, as the price of a gram of gold remained stable after its rise in trading yesterday evening. This rise was supported by the rise in the price of an ounce of gold to above the level of $4,000, which pushed 21 karat to trade near its highest levels, which raises questions about the market’s direction in the coming days. Will gold continue its rise or will it enter a stage of stability?
Looking at the prices of gold in Egypt, 24 karat is about 6,109 pounds, while 21 karat, which is considered the most common, reaches 5,345 pounds, while 18 karat is priced at 4,581 pounds, and the gold pound achieves a value of up to 42,790 pounds. This sharp change in prices reflects global market fluctuations and their impact on the local economy, which raises the concerns of many investors and those related to this industry.
According to World Gold Council reports, Egyptians’ purchases of gold decreased by 14% during the third quarter of 2025, with purchases recording 9.9 tons compared to 11.5 tons in the second quarter, but those numbers indicate a deeper decline, as purchases also decreased by 5% compared to the same period last year 2024, highlighting the current economic challenges.
Purchases of gold jewelry recorded 4.4 tons in the third quarter of this year, which represents a decrease of 15% compared to the same period last year. It was also lower than the purchases of the second quarter of 2025, which amounted to 5.7 tons. Despite the improvement in purchases of gold bullion and coins, which increased by 5%, they still face challenges resulting from geopolitical conditions and the continued rise in prices that negatively affect demand.
