The Executive Committee of the International Sports Media Club held its regular meeting in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the presence of the founding president, Mr. Mohamed Qassem, and members of the committee, where it discussed a number of important organizational and media files, and approved a set of decisions and recommendations that enhance the club’s presence and its role in developing Arab and international sports media.

At the forefront of the decisions approved by the meeting was setting the date for the Executive Committee meeting to be held annually during the month of October in the Arab Republic of Egypt, in appreciation of the great support that the club’s activities receive from the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the ideal environment that Cairo provides to host the international club’s activities.

The committee also approved the restructuring of the club’s working committees and restructuring them so that they include five specific committees: the Media and Public Relations Committee, the Marketing Committee, the Women’s Committee, the Membership Committee, and the Programs and Events Committee, provided that these committees are headed by members outside the Executive Committee, with the exception of the Women’s Committee, whose chairperson is required to be a member of the Executive Committee in recognition of the nature of its specialization and its role in supporting and empowering female sports media professionals.

In a qualitative step towards documenting the club’s progress and its growing activity, the committee approved the issuance of a periodic electronic newspaper concerned with monitoring and covering all the events and activities of the club and its members around the world, to be a media reference that documents the professional movement and international activities of the club.

The Executive Committee also approved the proposal to organize the “First Congress of the International Sports Media Club,” which will constitute an international event that brings together club members from various countries to consult, exchange visions, and present the club’s plans and programs for the coming years, with December 2026 being proposed as the date for the first edition to be held.

The committee assigned the General Secretariat to explore the nominations of 3 members, including a female member, to include them in the Executive Committee, to be announced later.

In a related context, the Executive Committee approved the request of the Libyan Athletes Association to host the Seventh International Sports Media Forum in Libya, and assigned the General Secretariat to coordinate with the organizing association to complete the hosting requirements in preparation for holding it at a level that befits the status of the host country and the international club.

The committee also decided to open electronic subscriptions to obtain membership in the International Sports Media Club for the years 2025-2027, as part of its endeavor to expand the membership base and attract Arab and international media talents wishing to join the club’s system and contribute to its future programs.

The Executive Committee urged the importance of the participation of delegations from the international club in the major events and tournaments that are held, so that coordination is made with the organizing committees of these tournaments to ensure the presence of the club’s representatives in these important international events, and because of this effective role in enhancing communication between media professionals and expanding the club’s presence in the regional and international sports scene.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of the work program of the International Sports Media Club for the year 2026, which includes organizing the first forum for sports media professionals, holding the seventh international sports media forum in Libya, and organizing the first Congress of the International Club in December 2026, in addition to implementing a group of specialized training courses in member states under the direct supervision of the International Club, in confirmation of its pioneering role in developing and qualifying sports media cadres at the Arab and international levels.

Immediately after the end of its meeting, the Executive Committee announced its decision to grant His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the honorary presidency of the International Club in appreciation of his role and support and the role of the Republic of Egypt in supporting the club over the past years.
