At least 14 people were killed after a gold mine collapsed in the municipality of El Callao in southern Venezuela after heavy rains fell in the area, emergency officials said on Monday.

Venezuela’s National Risk System teams revealed that recovery efforts are underway, as the bodies were found in three separate wells, according to what was published by Reuters.
Emergency officials said in a post on social media: The first stage of the work is to pump all wells in the Strip to lower the water level, and then evaluate rescue efforts.
