Dr. Sheikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transport and Communications, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to continue strengthening the strategic partnership with the Italian Republic in the scientific, intellectual and research fields, in a way that supports the comprehensive development process under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may God protect and protect him, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Chairman of the Council of Ministers. This came on the occasion of the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Derasat Center and the Italian Society of International Organization (SIOI), which includes cooperation in developing scientific research, launching educational, training and research programmes, exchanging experiences, knowledge and relevant scientific publications, as well as coordination in organizing intellectual and cultural events that enhance dialogue and mutual understanding. The memorandum was signed by Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Ahmad, CEO of the Centre, and Ambassador Riccardo Sessa, President of the Italian Association, in the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Osama bin Abdullah Al-Absi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Italian Republic.
He expressed his pride in signing a memorandum of cooperation with one of the most prominent intellectual, scientific and academic institutions in Italy, specialized in qualifying academic and diplomatic leaders, within the framework of the Center’s keenness to expand its research partnerships with global expertise houses, guided by the high royal vision, and the directives of the government headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, regarding promoting knowledge and scientific innovation, as foundations for international cooperation in supporting sustainable development goals.
The Minister, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Derasat, added that the memorandum of cooperation signed with the Italian Association of the International Organization will contribute to consolidating the intellectual, academic and research partnership between the two friendly countries, and enhancing the role of the Derasat Center as a strategic think tank partner in decision-making and formulating future visions, thus enhancing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a beacon of scientific innovation and intellectual, cultural and political dialogue at the regional and international levels.
For his part, Ambassador Riccardo Sessa, President of the Italian Society of International Organization (SIOI), expressed his pride in the constructive cooperation with the Derasat Center, as it is a qualitative step towards deepening the close and distinguished historical Bahraini-Italian relations, and an embodiment of the importance of investing in scientific research and knowledge innovation as effective tools for developing international cooperation and serving the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
