The Parliamentary Services Committee approved the proposal with a desire to establish a clinic in the Capital Governorate specializing in the care and treatment of drug users. For its part, the Ministry of Health stated that the “Al-Moayyed Unit” located in the Psychiatric Hospital affiliated with government hospitals, which was established in 1987, provides all therapeutic and rehabilitative services for drug addiction patients, through an integrated treatment team consisting of: a consultant, doctors, nursing staff, a social researcher, a psychologist, and an occupational and rehabilitation therapist, and the government hospital administration is working to continue Training in this specialty, and providing future cadres, through continuing missions to advanced international centers in this field.
The unit provides outpatient services 4 days a week, including one day designated for females. The unit also contains a detoxification ward with a capacity of 15 beds, and a rehabilitation ward with a capacity of 13 beds.
