On Saturday, a large number of demonstrators expressed their anger against US President Donald Trump in all parts of the United States, from New York to San Francisco, during a massive day of mobilization that was criticized by the right, describing it as a movement of “hate against America.”

Hannah Foster (41 years old), an employee of a jewelry company who participated in a procession that included thousands of people that started at noon in New York from the famous Times Square, confirmed to Agence France-Presse: “It is necessary for everyone to move and do their best to resist the fall of democracy as we know it.”

“I fear that the United States, as it is now in some respects, will become a very cruel, dishonest and authoritarian regime, where people’s dignity and rights are no longer respected,” said retiree Colleen Hoffman.

More than 2,700 demonstrations are scheduled to be held on Saturday in major American cities, in small towns, as well as in many foreign countries such as Canada and Spain.

In Washington, D.C., a massive demonstration was held near Congress, where crowds urged Trump to “go.”

As for Florida, demonstrators raised banners depicting the president in the form of Stalin and the Queen of England near his residence in Mar-a-Lago, where he spends the weekend.

Officials in Trump’s party denounced the demonstrations, going so far as to compare the demonstrators to terrorists.

House Republican Leader Mike Johnson described the planned marches as “a mobilization of hatred against America,” saying, “I bet you will see in them supporters of Hamas and Antifa,” the political movement that the US President recently classified as a “terrorist organization.”

In condemnation of this speech, many demonstrators on Saturday wore strange costumes embodying penguins, frogs and even hippopotamuses, while others proudly waved the American flag.

According to AFP, Ashley (37 years old), a demonstrator in the Forest Hills neighborhood of New York, said, “He (Trump) is completely violating the law and the Constitution.”

This day of demonstrations is being held amid the paralysis of federal agencies, and while Trump is deploying military forces in Democratic strongholds, he says their goal is to combat illegal immigration and crime.

Rallies are also scheduled to be held Saturday in cities where Trump has deployed the National Guard, such as Chicago and Los Angeles.

“Don’t let Donald Trump and the Republicans intimidate you into silence,” Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer wrote on X on Saturday morning.

The Democratic candidate for the 2024 presidential elections, Kamala Harris, and Hollywood star Robert De Niro also participated in the call for protest.
