Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, stressed on the water and sanitation companies, all executive bodies and district heads, to raise the maximum level of preparedness to face the rainy season during the winter, and to deal immediately with the climate changes that the country may witness during the coming period.
This came during a meeting of the Executive Council of Cairo Governorate, in the presence of the deputy governors of the four regions and a number of governorate leaders, where the governor stressed the necessity of continuous linking between the central operations room in the governorate and the control center of the National Emergency and Public Safety Network, with open telephone lines with the Meteorological Authority to follow up on the weather conditions throughout the day, and to notify neighborhoods first of all in order to move quickly when necessary, to avoid the occurrence of crises or water accumulations. In the streets.
Dr. Ibrahim Saber pointed out that there is complete coordination between the Public Cleaning Authority and the Sanitation Company to ensure the disinfection of the rain drains spread throughout the streets of the capital and to ensure their suitability. He explained that 23,615 rain drains have been cleared so far, in addition to reviewing and disinfecting 32 tunnels at the governorate level, in preparation for receiving rainwater.

The governor stressed the importance of the rapid deployment of equipment and emergency teams in the main streets and vital hubs to confront any emergency in coordination between the neighborhoods, the water and sanitation companies, the hygiene authority, civil protection, and the utility police, stressing that the governorate has developed a precise plan to distribute giant vacuums, fountains, and modern equipment in water collection areas, waterfalls, and bridge houses, according to meteorological forecasts.
The governor also directed the necessity of raising the efficiency of sewage plants and their regular maintenance to absorb the expected amounts of water, in addition to coordinating with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to cleanse the flood dumps located in the areas of Al-Ma’asara, Tora, Kafr Al-Alou and Al-Tabin, with daily follow-up to remove any waste in them to ensure their readiness to confront floods if they occur.
The Governor of Cairo stressed the importance of reviewing the lighting networks, exposed wires and cables, and quickly covering them in order to preserve the safety of citizens, stressing continuous coordination with electricity companies to isolate electricity kiosks and ensure their tight closure, within the framework of the governorate’s comprehensive plan to secure citizens during the winter season.
