The Spanish club Barcelona has reached a final agreement with the team’s Dutch midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, to renew his contract and secure him from foreign offers in the coming period, so that the Dutch player will continue to defend the Catalan team.
De Jong won the admiration of German coach Hansi Flick, coach of Barcelona, after his distinguished appearance, which gave Flick the green light for the Blaugrana management to renew confidence in De Jong and renew his contract for the longest possible period.
De Jong is Catalan until 2029
For his part, the reliable Italian journalist in the European transfer market, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed that De Jong had agreed to sign a new contract with Barcelona, extending for three additional seasons other than the current season, indicating that all the details had been agreed upon between the two parties, and that only some official procedures remained to be completed, before the extension was announced.
Romano pointed out that the new contract of the Dutch player De Jong with Barcelona will maintain the player’s current salary during the current season, with the new salary adjustments starting in 2026, especially since the Dutch star represents the most important element in the Catalan team, as he plays a pivotal role in the team’s midfield.
Flick relies heavily on De Jong in the majority of matches, which prompts the Catalan team to want to finalize the remaining details soon, in preparation for the official announcement of the contract renewal, with the aim of preserving the stability of the team, and continuing De Jong as one of the main pillars in the coming years.
