The Ministry of Health, in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, organized a field assessment of the basic capabilities for implementing the International Health Regulations at Bahrain International Airport, in cooperation with the Bahrain Airport Company and the authorities concerned with the ports, and in the presence of representatives from the Gulf Committee for the Implementation of the International Health Regulations and the International Health Regulations team in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with the aim of enhancing the airport’s readiness to respond to health risks at the border crossings.
Bahrain International Airport has passed the risk assessment of basic capabilities at border crossings, achieving a high rating that reflects the quality and efficiency of services provided, and ongoing efforts to strengthen national capabilities in the field of health security, and ensure compliance with World Health Organization requirements.
The evaluation team relied on standard tools issued by the World Health Organization to collect and analyze data, in addition to carrying out field visits, conducting group discussions and interviews with relevant teams, to evaluate coordination and communication mechanisms, operational capabilities in various circumstances, as well as capabilities to respond to emergency health events.
This achievement confirms the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to applying the highest standards of safety and public health at its border crossings, and to enhancing regional cooperation and coordination within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in a way that contributes to protecting public health and enhancing national and regional health security.
