In the presence of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and with the participation of high-level delegations from various Arab countries, the Gulf International Center is organizing the Eighth International Conference for Legal Entrepreneurs, under the title: “Digital Currencies between Future Prospects and Challenges of the Law,” on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the Regency Intercontinental Hotel – Kingdom of Bahrain.
The organization of this international event comes in light of the accelerating digital transformation that the world is witnessing, and the associated major developments in the field of the digital economy and modern financial technologies (FinTech), as digital currencies have become one of the most prominent tools for global economic transformation, with the promising opportunities it presents and extremely complex legal and regulatory challenges.
The presence of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh reflects his keenness and interest in supporting and empowering civil society institutions, based on his firm belief in the importance of their role in developing the legislative system and enhancing institutional dialogue on contemporary issues, most notably the digital and legislative transformations related to the modern economy.
The conference enjoys wide participation from an elite group of experts and specialists in the legal, economic and technical fields from various parts of the world, and constitutes a high-level scientific and professional platform aimed at discussing the challenges and developments related to digital currencies, and seeking to provide practical, implementable recommendations that contribute to modernizing national, regional and international legislation.
The Gulf International Center is organizing this conference based on its advisory role with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and out of its belief in the importance of contributing to building an enabling legal environment that supports technological innovation and balances protecting rights and encouraging investment in the digital economy.
Legal Advisor Mohammed Jassim Al-Thawadi, Executive Director of the Gulf International Centre, expressed his pride in holding the conference in the Kingdom of Bahrain, praising the generous care given by His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council to the Centre’s efforts, and his continued support for empowering civil society institutions. The conference focuses on discussing the legislative and regulatory frameworks for digital currencies, reviewing leading international experiences, in addition to examining ways to protect users and ensure the security of data and digital transactions in light of the expanding adoption of government digital currencies (CBDCs). The conference also represents a valuable opportunity to explore the future of smart contracts and stable currencies, and to discuss the legal dimensions of cybersecurity, privacy protection, and international cooperation in settling digital disputes.
