The Egyptian Football Association continues its preparations for the Egyptian Super Cup, which will be held in the UAE during the period from 6 to 9 next November.
A trend towards using foreign referees in the Egyptian Super Cup
Sources revealed to Cairo 24 that there is a trend within the Football Association to use foreign referee teams in the Egyptian Super Championship, in which Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids and Ceramica Cleopatra teams participate.
The sources explained that the use of foreign referees may take place in all Super Cup matches, or in the final match of the tournament at the very least.
According to what the sources said, the Emirati side will bear the costs of bringing foreign referees to the Super Cup, given that the Emirati side is the host of the tournament and the main partner in organizing it.
The sources added that the Football Association will not wait for the request of one of the four clubs participating in the Super Cup to bring in foreign referees, but rather the Federation will take the initiative on its own to bring in foreign referees in the tournament.
The two semi-final matches of the Egyptian Super Cup will be held on November 6, in which Al-Ahly will meet Ceramica Cleopatra, and Zamalek will meet Pyramids, and the two winning teams in the semi-final will meet on November 9 in the final match of the Super Cup, with the two losing teams in the semi-final meeting in the third place match, which will be held hours before the final match.
