This scene resounded in the memory of the Palestinians and the world. Everyone remembered the same scene that brought him together previously with his fellow martyr Anas Al-Sharif. Many said: As they did with Anas, today Saleh rose and joined Anas.
Al-Jaafrawi’s last words before his martyrdom expressed unbreakable steadfastness, as he said: The Israeli army needs a million years to break the will of the Palestinian people.
The day after the ceasefire, bulldozers returned to pave the streets. The people of Gaza began rebuilding their homes with their own hands. God is great for a people who deserve to live.
On Sunday evening, Al-Jaafrawi was martyred after being hit by seven bullets during clashes that broke out in the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City while he was covering the events on the ground.
His martyrdom came months after direct threats and accusations directed against him by Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraee, which raised widespread questions about the possibility of Israel’s involvement in targeting him.
Who is Saleh Al-Jaafrawi?
Saleh Al-Jaafrawi is a young Palestinian journalist and photographer, no more than twenty-seven years old. His name has become a symbol of media determination and resistance in Gaza. Since the outbreak of the war last October, the sector’s diaries have been conveyed to the world in simple and honest language, from shelters, hospitals and destroyed streets, via live broadcasts followed by millions.
Al-Jaafrawi gathered more than 3 million followers on the Instagram platform before Meta closed his account several times due to his content that exposed Israeli crimes and documented human suffering. He has become one of the most prominent media voices in Palestine, seen by many as “the voice of the people in Gaza, who did not remain silent until the moment of his departure.”
