On Saturday, the security services in the Egyptian Giza Governorate arrested an actor who tried to break into the apartment of journalist Amr Adeeb in the Agouza neighbourhood, after receiving a report indicating the presence of a stranger acting in a suspicious manner inside the apartment.
A force from the Agouza Police Department detectives moved to the site, and the suspect was detained. It was later revealed that he was an extras suffering from a psychological disorder as a result of family disputes that led to his recent divorce, which was reflected in his behavior and made him behave in an unbalanced manner.
Initial investigations revealed that the accused works as an “extra” representative for one of the artistic production companies, and that he was seeking to communicate with the son of the journalist Amr Adeeb to intervene to resolve a financial dispute with the company, worth less than 300 thousand pounds, without the nature of the relationship that led him to attempts to communicate with Amr Adeeb’s son becoming clear.
The incident was officially documented and the Public Prosecution was notified, which began the investigation, while the security services continue to complete investigations to accurately uncover the circumstances of the incident and determine the real motives behind the strange behavior of the accused.
For its part, the Acting Professions Syndicate did not issue any official comment on the incident, given that the accused does not belong to the union, whether as a working or affiliated member, and the position of the journalist Amr Adeeb or his son on the case is not yet known, whether with regard to legal escalation or the trend towards an amicable settlement that may lead to ending the legal status of the accused.
