Within the framework of the activities of the Fourth Luxor Book Fair, and under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, the House of Poetry in Luxor witnessed an exceptional poetry evening performed by the great poet Ahmed Bakhit, one of the most prominent poetic voices in the contemporary Arab world, in the midst of a qualitative presence of lovers of literature, poetry and culture.
The evening was presented by the poet Hassan Amer, Deputy Director of the House of Poetry in Luxor, where he began the meeting with an influential speech in which he reviewed the literary biography of the poet Ahmed Bakhit, and his extended poetic career that combines originality and innovation, pointing to his high position in the Arab cultural scene.
During the evening, Bakhit entertained the audience with a collection of his poems that varied between the sentimental, the patriotic, and the emotional. He read, with his sensitive feeling, his poems “The Isolation of the Wolf” and “Lara,” in addition to a number of poetic texts with which the audience interacted warmly, before concluding the evening with his famous poem “Ramallah,” in which he expressed his deep Arab sentiment toward the Palestinian issue, concluding the evening. The evening received warm applause from the audience.
New voices shine in the Poetry House in Luxor
The evening witnessed a special segment delivered by the talented child Azad Alaa Abdul Hadi, who presented one of Bakhit’s poems with a sweet childish voice and a remarkable presence, which won the audience’s admiration and great applause, in a moment that embodied the extension of poetry between generations.
A number of attendees confirmed that that night was one of the most beautiful events at the Luxor Book Fair this year, because of its poetic and human depth that reflects the spirit of authentic Egyptian culture.
