On one of the summer vacation days, Nada was alone at home, so she decided to surprise her family with a breakfast meal, opened the refrigerator and took out the eggs, but she stopped confused: she did not know how to break the egg without scattering the shell, and she did not distinguish between frying oil and salad oil! After several attempts, I only sent a picture of the raw eggs in the family group, and wrote: “A day I learn, I promise you to surprise you.”
The scene is virtually funny, but it reveals a broader civilized gap in our family education and culture.
In the past. These were not entertaining skills, but rather part of an integrated education that balances the mind and work, between information and value.
Today, despite the availability of academic knowledge, this practical dimension, which is at the heart of the Quranic purposes in empowerment, is absent in which its strengths estimated “so that the person learns the ability to manage his affairs.
Every time the media fills our screens with pictures of young people who are unaware of the simplest living skills from frying an egg to running the washing machine, we have to ask: Is this the ceiling of our ambition for children? To provide them with the finest schools and universities, and leave them unable to dispense with others in their simplest affairs?
The gap is not a destiny, but an opportunity for reform. Statistics say that 61% of the Z generation cannot prepare omelets, and 80% do not know cooking a basic meal, and half of them feel unless you are ready to manage the house. But in return they are adept at technology, quickly learning, are able to gain any skill in an appropriate environment.
Therefore, instead of laughing at these scenes, to make it the beginning of an educational project that restores education for its function in recommendation and empowerment and building a free person, by introducing “life skills” in the curricula, organizing family workshops, encouraging youth initiatives that integrate volunteer work with real practice, and investing the media to spread high skill content.
The future is full of challenges, but we are able to make a generation that has the tools of living in dignity, and moves with a spirit of justice and responsibility, believing that education is the ability to manage life and make an impact, not just a testimony on the wall.
