Today, Wednesday, the activities of the “Al-Azhar – Faisal Islamic Bank” competition for memorizing the Holy Qur’an for people of determination began, for which nearly 500 contestants applied from Al-Azhar Mosque, under the patronage of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and with the approval of His Eminence Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, and the supervision of Al-Azhar Mosque, led by Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, General Supervisor of Al-Azhar Corridor, and Dr. Hani Odeh, Director of Al-Azhar Mosque.
Tests are being conducted today at the headquarters of Al-Azhar Mosque for a number of contestants in 6 governorates: Cairo – Giza – Qalyubia – Port Said – South Sinai – North Sinai, in order to facilitate the contestants with special needs and their parents, and in appreciation and honor of the Holy Qur’an they carry in their chests.
The competition tests will end today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of Al-Azhar Mosque, which includes contestants from 6 governorates, and contestants from Luxor Governorate. After the completion of the competition, the results will be announced and prizes will be handed over to the winners in a large celebration befitting the people of the Qur’an.
Al-Azhar Mosque concludes the tests for the Quran memorization competition for people of determination for contestants in 6 governorates
Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, General Supervisor of the Al-Azhar Corridors, explained that this competition comes after the success of the Holy Quran Competition, which recently ended in its third season, and after the discovery of many talents of people of determination during the competition, within the framework of cooperation between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and civil society institutions.
The tests are constantly monitored by the leaders of Al-Azhar, the heads of the Al-Azhar regions, the director of Al-Azhar Mosque, and the supervisor of the Al-Azhar corridor. Al-Azhar leaders praised the good organization, the ingenuity of the contestants of special needs, the strength of their memory, the beauty of their outbursts, and the sweetness of their voices.
The Director General of Al-Azhar Mosque reviewed all the preparations prior to holding the tests and the coordination between the Al-Azhar Mosque administration and the affairs of the corridors to provide all the needs for the competition, which was confirmed. He also listened to the contestants, researchers, and members of the testing committee.
Odeh confirmed that Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, under the leadership of the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Deputy Al-Azhar, is very keen to support memorizers of the Book of God, and to organize competitions to compete in the most honorable and best sciences, which is the Holy Qur’an, indicating that the competition for people of determination consists of three levels, the first level: the entire Holy Qur’an by memorization and intonation, with 10 prizes, each prize worth 20 thousand pounds, and the second level: two-thirds of the Qur’an by memorization. Tajweed, with 10 prizes, each prize worth 15,000 pounds, and the third level: a third of the Qur’an by memorization and intonation, with 10 prizes, each prize worth 10,000 pounds, bringing the total prizes to 450,000 pounds.
