Omar Hisham Talaat, Chairman, said Egyptian Federation For Golf, the Egyptian Open Amateur Championship for the year 2025 represents a new start for the sport of golf in Egypt and the Arab world, noting that the return of the tournament after 15 years of absence embodies the spirit of determination and ambition in developing the game and enhancing its position regionally and internationally.

Hisham added, during his speech at the tournament’s launch ceremony on Wednesday evening, attended by Ghassan Kabbani, Vice President of the African Golf Confederation, and Mohamed Al-Aziz Al-Fatni, a member of the Executive Office of the Arab Golf Federation, that the tournament, which was first launched in 1920, is one of the most prestigious competitions in Africa and the Arab world, and has remained for more than a century a symbol of integrity, sportsmanship, and national pride, adding: This tournament was and continues to be part of the story of golf. Egyptian, a story about passion, tradition and excellence.
He pointed out that the current edition witnesses the tournament joining the Arab Golf Series, which is a regional platform that aims to bring together the best players in the region and provide greater opportunities for competition and development, adding that this step represents a major axis in the joint vision to raise the status of Arab golf and expand the base of professional players.
Omar Hisham added that golf in Egypt is entering a new era today, thanks to the expansion of junior programs, the return of veteran champions, and the emergence of promising talents worthy of support and care, stressing that the Egyptian Golf Federation is building its modern system on the foundations of good governance and professional management to achieve Egypt’s vision of restoring its sports leadership.
He also announced the return of the Egyptian Open Championship as the most prominent professional event on the Egyptian golf agenda, noting that the first-place winners will receive invitations to participate in the Egyptian Open Professional Championship in cooperation with the Asian Tour, and the Red Sea International Golf Championship, which are scheduled to be held in the coming weeks, opening up broader horizons for them to compete on the international arena.
Omar Hisham thanked the former Board of Directors of the Federation for its sincere efforts, expressing his appreciation to the organizing committees and volunteers who contributed to the success of the event, stressing the Federation’s commitment to the principles of transparency, justice and merit in selecting players through open qualifiers.
The President of the Egyptian Golf Federation concluded his speech by emphasizing that the Egyptian Open Amateur Championship represents more than just a sporting competition, as it embodies a message of confidence in the capabilities of Egyptian and Arab talent, and the spirit of unity and ambition that drives the sport of golf towards a brighter future, noting that it constitutes the beginning of a new golden era and a real opportunity for a new generation of champions to shine on the global stage.
