8 commercial establishments closed after 250 kg of spoiled and unsuitable food was seized in Aswan

Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of Aswan, confirmed that in light of the successive campaigns being implemented in various markets, stores and restaurants, many of them have been monitored for compliance with health rules and requirements.

The Governor of Aswan praised these models, which are keen to follow the controls aimed at displaying and selling products of goods and foodstuffs with shelf life and high quality that conform to health specifications, which in turn gives reassurance that the consumer public will obtain them in the safety of their safety for human consumption.

He explained that deterrent legal measures are being taken against non-compliant owners of shops, restaurants and commercial activities, as they are immediately closed and sealed, and fines are imposed on them.

In this context, Dr. Ismail Kamal assigned his deputy, Engineer Amr Lashin, to lead and follow up on the large inspection campaign that was carried out inside the old tourist market area and the side streets attached to it.

Members of the Environmental Sanitation Committee of the Consumer Protection Agency, the National Food Safety Authority, the Supply, Health and Veterinary Medicine Directorates, the Department of Public Store Licensing and the Facilities Police participated in it.

250 kg of spoiled food was seized

The efforts of the campaign, which went through butcher shops, frozen meat refrigerators, restaurants and fish, resulted in the seizure of 250 kilograms of food unfit for human consumption, including 180 kilograms of beef fat, 25 kilograms of minced meat, 20 kilograms of poultry, and 25 kilograms of meat products.

The restaurants in which these spoiled foods were seized were closed, a total of 8 commercial establishments, including 5 restaurants, and notification was made of the safe method of these seizures, with expired food items being seized in 16 stores, and they were confiscated, with the seized items being reserved until the Public Prosecution’s decision is issued.

In parallel, 11 other reports were issued for the destruction of food items as they were not fit for human consumption, and at the same time the conditions of some other stores were adjusted.
