The Kingdom of Bahrain’s tally in the Third Asian Youth Games, currently being held in the Kingdom until October 31, under the generous patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, rose to six colorful medals after the remarkable brilliance of the mixed martial arts and Muay Thai teams.
The result was three gold medals, one silver and one bronze, which reflects the great development in the level of the Bahraini teams participating in the tournament.
The star of Bahraini players shone in mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions, where the champions of the national team imposed their strong presence and dominated the final bouts with distinguished technical levels that confirmed their high readiness.
The first gold medal came from Eldar Eldarov in the 60 kg weight, after his deserved victory over the Kyrgyz player “Kadyrov”, who was forced to surrender before Eldar’s strength and complete control over the course of the fight, giving Bahrain its first gold in this tournament.
The second gold medal went to Abdulhakim Babayev, who caught the attention in the 65 kg weight category, after he was able to defeat his Saudi competitor, Hassan Al-Qattan, who announced his surrender in the face of the great pressure imposed by Babayev in an elaborate attacking style that ended the fight in his favor.
Ibrahim Khalidov confirmed Bahrain’s superiority in this game after winning the third gold medal in the 70 kg weight category, following his victory over the Saudi player Ibrahim Al-Baraa in a fight characterized by strength and excitement from the beginning, as Khalidov succeeded in imposing his rhythm and controlling the course of the match until he decided it well and deservedly.
On the other hand, player Sultan Ahmed won the silver medal in the 65 kg weight category after a heroic performance on his way to the final, before losing a strong and exciting confrontation to Kazakhstani Sanzher Kartay, adding a new achievement to Bahrain’s tally in this game.
In Muay Thai, Tanishi Bhowmik won the bronze medal in the under-51 kg category, after reaching the semi-finals and performing at outstanding levels, before narrowly losing to the Thai player Pimelpat on total points. Bhowmik demonstrated her strong presence among the elite Asian players, giving Bahrain a new medal to its credit.
