During its session today, the court heard the coroner and the doctor who conducted the medical examination on the victim, and the defendant’s defense team discussed each of them about the causes of the victim’s death. The court also heard the Public Prosecution’s plea, which demanded the maximum penalty be imposed on the accused.
In its last session, on September 17, the court decided to postpone the trial of the accused of killing his wife in the village of Al-Shouka Al-Balad, in the center of Damanhour, to today’s session, Wednesday, to discuss with the forensic doctor, discuss with the incident officer, and submit documents.
The details of the incident date back to last April, when the security services of the Beheira Security Directorate received a notification from the warden of Damanhour Police Station, stating that the body of a 25-year-old woman had been found inside her home in the village.
Upon investigation and examination, it became clear that the victim’s husband was behind the commission of the crime after he severely beat her as a result of a family dispute, which resulted in her immediate death.
The body was transferred to the morgue at Damanhour Teaching Hospital, and the investigating authorities were notified, which began investigations and decided to assign a forensic doctor to perform an autopsy to determine the causes of death. They also requested investigations into the circumstances of the incident.
