Official data revealed that the Electricity and Water Authority has implemented current projects alongside projects that have already been completed, by 12 projects (5 current projects and 7 completed projects), with a total financial value that exceeds 211 million Bahraini dinars, which reflects the commitment of the authority to meet the increasing demand for services and ensure their sustainability. According to the official data published on the website of the Electricity and Water Authority, there are current projects that enhance network efficiency, and keep pace with the transformation of clean energy, including:
Hawar Island Project
The project of providing an island of electricity with electricity is one of the most prominent ongoing projects, as it includes the construction of a 66 kilometer transfer station, and the installation of a new marine cable and a new floor to connect the island to the electricity transport network of the Electricity and Water Authority, and the value of the project is 74.4 million Bahraini dinars.
The project is based on a comprehensive vision aimed at providing an island of Hawar with electricity and connecting it to the main network using marine cables and a 66 km ground effort, in order to achieve the strategic purpose of providing the islands with electricity to contribute to advancing tourism growth and economic development in it.
The project also includes the development of the infrastructure through the establishment of a 66 km main sub -station on the island of dialogue and a 48 -megapixel transport station, as the project emphasizes the goals of renewable energy by ensuring reliable electricity supply to meet the increasing demand, and enhances the path of sustainable development.
Two water stations in Haniniyah and walked
Within the plans of the authority to support urban development and horizontal and vertical urban expansion in the Kingdom, the Electricity and Water Authority began a project to establish two water distribution stations in the Hananiya and South Saar regions, with a budget of 30 million Bahraini dinars.
The project aims to enhance the efficiency of water supply and ensure its continuity in these areas, in addition to meeting the increasing needs in the surrounding areas.
The project includes the construction of pumping stations, ground storage tanks and upper tanks in the two regions, where the capacity of the ground storage tanks is 10 million gallons (MG), while the capacity of the upper tanks reaches 1.5 million gallons in Haninia and a million gallons in southern Saar.
The project is funded by the Electricity and Water Authority in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, as it began to be implemented in June 2025, and is expected to be completed within 30 months.
East Sitra water
The project of establishing a new water distribution station comes in the east of the housing jacket in response to the needs of housing and development projects in the region, where the project budget is 12.3 million Bahraini dinars with direct funding from the Electricity and Water Authority. The new station includes ground and upper tanks, and it also features a solar energy system to provide part of its operating needs using renewable energy sources. According to the project’s schedule, it is scheduled to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2026.
Water transmission lines
Within the efforts to develop the water transport network in various regions of the Kingdom, the authority implements the project to install water transport lines, equipment and associated valves, with countries between 600 and 1000 mm.
The cost of the project is 9.2 million Bahraini dinars, and aims to enhance and develop the water transport network to meet the increasing demand for water in line with the requirements of growth and urban expansion throughout Bahrain.
Efficiency project
The “efficiency” project is a strategic national initiative aimed at increasing energy efficiency and enhancing energy -saving practices within high -consumption buildings, especially in the commercial and industrial sectors that represent 45% of energy consumption in Bahrain. The project is based on encouraging a culture of rationalization of consumption that benefits all residents and sectors. “Efficiency” aims to maintain 308 GB of electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by 154,000 tons by 2040, as well as reduce energy bills and preserve the environment. The project also constitutes an essential pillar to support Bahrain’s goals by raising the rate of benefiting from renewable energy to 20% by 2035, and achieving zero neutrality by 2060. The experimental project has proven its success by developing energy efficiency in four government buildings and achieving a 41% decrease in energy consumption, while reducing carbon emissions by 19,250 tons. The initiative’s achievements include launching 6 main projects that provide a total of 117,489 megawatts, at a value of 3,407,173 Bahraini dinars, and contributes to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 58,744 tons. The project is being implemented in partnership with energy efficiency services companies, as these companies make energy consumption audits and the application of energy saving measures to reduce consumption and operating costs.
Completed projects
In addition to the current projects, the Electricity and Water Authority has completed a number of qualitative projects that reflect its strategic direction towards sustainable development.
The electricity and water network control
The authority opened an advanced center to control the electricity and water networks in Al -Hadd area, at a cost of 21.6 million Bahraini dinars, as the center includes advanced control systems according to international standards, and a building with an area of 15 thousand square meters, which enhances the reliability of services, and allows the effective response to the emergency.
Sound Station 220 km
At a cost of 15.57 million Bahraini dinars, the authority established a major power transmission station in the city of Hadd Haddi to meet the needs of new cities and ensure reliable electrical supplies, which contributes to sustainable urban development.
Khalifa Water Distribution Station
With the support of the Saudi Fund for Development within the Gulf Development Program, the authority completed a water distribution station in Khalifa City of 12.8 million Bahraini dinars. The station is distinguished by the presence of a solar cell system that covers part of its needs, and the network is provided with the surplus.
The 66 km station
This project, which cost 10.8 million Bahraini dinars, is an important step to enhance electricity supplies for the city of Al -Hadd and the surrounding areas, as it serves approximately 40 thousand subscribers through a station with a capacity of 360 MB.
Salman Water Station 2
With a budget of 8.6 million Bahraini dinars, the authority completed the second phase of Salman Water Distribution Station, which included the establishment of new ground tanks and pumps, along with a solar energy system covering part of its needs.
Al -Hadd water station
At a cost of 6.7 million Bahraini dinars, a new water distribution station has been operated in the housing city of Al -Hadd since April 2024, where the station includes the latest systems to monitor water quality and ensure reliability of operation.
Ramli Water Distribution Station
In November 2024, the Ramli Water Distribution Station entered the service, to meet the demand in the Al -Ramli suburb and the surrounding areas, and the station is characterized by its ability to benefit from solar energy and export the surplus of the national network.
