Contract engineer Mohamed Shimi, Minister of Public Business Sectorheld an expanded meeting with Dr. Ihab Heikal, General Syndicate of Dentists, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf El-Kholy, Managing Director of the Holding Company for Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and Medical Supplies, and Dr. Mohamed Ahmed, Managing Director of the Alexandria Pharmaceutical Company, within the framework of the state’s efforts to develop pharmaceutical industries and enhance national pharmaceutical security.
Localization of the medical supplies industry
During the meeting, ways of supporting and developing the system for producing medicines and dental supplies were discussed, and ensuring that the needs of the local market are met with high quality and efficiency, ensuring the continuity of supply of safe and effective products that meet the needs of doctors and patients alike, through the Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Holding Companies.
Engineer Muhammad Shimi stressed that the state pays special attention to the medicines and medical supplies sector as it is one of the strategic sectors that directly affects the health of citizens, noting that the Ministry is working to develop the medicine industry in affiliated companies and localize modern technology in production lines, keeping pace with international standards in quality and safety, and contributing to meeting the market’s needs for medicines and medical supplies at reasonable prices and high quality.
Shimi pointed out the keenness to enhance cooperation and coordination between subsidiaries and professional unions, explaining that the Alexandria Pharmaceutical Company, one of the pharmaceutical holding companies, is the largest producer of dental anesthesia in Egypt and the Middle East, stressing the importance of providing a strategic stock of dental anesthesia and its supplies to meet the needs of the local market on a continuous and stable basis.
For his part, Dr. Ihab Heikal, head of the Dentists Syndicate, expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Public Business Sector’s interest in supporting and developing the pharmaceutical and dental supplies industry, stressing that cooperation between the two sides will contribute to achieving self-sufficiency and localization of the industry, thus enhancing Egypt’s position as a regional center in this vital field.
