Engineer Saleh Bouhaza, Vice -President of the Municipal Council of Muharraq and member of the Fifth Department, stated that Al -Shorouk – Complex (254) in the Fifth Department in Muharraq Governorate has been suffering for many years from the almost complete absence of basic services, which exacerbated the suffering of the people and left them in isolation from the most basic elements of a decent life.
Bouhaza stressed that the region lacks a sewage network, which forces the people to use unhealthy alternative solutions and negatively affect the environment, in addition to the absence of public lighting in the streets of the complex, which increases the security and traffic risks. The internal roads are also not eligible, which is complicated by the movement of the population and increases their daily suffering.
He added that the region includes only a single entrance from within the island of Dilmunia, which constitutes a clear threat to the safety of the population and contradicts the simplest requirements of urban planning, as it is unable to remain a complete complex linked to a single behavior.
The Vice -President of the Municipal Council of Muharraq indicated that the Ministry of Works has left its repeated promises for years regarding the implementation of infrastructure projects in the complex (254), where these promises remained trapped in media statements without any actual implementation on the ground, which generated a state of resentment between the people and a sense of discrimination compared to other regions.
Bohaza concluded his statement to appeal to the competent authorities of the need to accelerate the implementation of basic infrastructure projects from sanitation, lighting, and preparing internal roads, in addition to establishing new entrances and exits that guarantee the safety and comfort of citizens, stressing that these demands are only basic rights guaranteed by the constitution for citizens.
