The administration of US President Donald Trump changed the trend, and began to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war.
Informed Israeli sources confirmed that Trump decided to end the war, and is now pressing Netanyahu to secure approval of a proposal that Hamas has already seen.
The Hebrew channel, “Kan”, revealed part of discussions between Netanyahu and Trump’s envoys, before a plan between them on Monday, and said that the American President’s envoy, Steve Witkeov, and his son -in -law Jared Kushner, informed Netanyahu that the US President was interested in ending the war in Gaza, and told him during their meeting in New York: “The president believes that the time has come to end. Baby (Benjamin), it’s time. ”
The channel said that Wittakov and Kushner came to Netanyahu for an agreement before his meeting with Trump on Monday, after Netanyahu expressed opposition to several items in the American plan, and alongside the Minister of Strategic Affairs, Ron Dermer, expressed their opposition to these items in a conversation with Trump’s assistants.
“Channel 13” confirmed the issue, and quoted senior Israeli officials as saying: “The patience of the United States towards Gaza is running out.”
In recent days, officials said, “The Trump administration has increased to reach an agreement with (Hamas), the release of the hostages, and to end the war significantly.”
Pressure on Netanyahu is intensifying with an American proposal to end the war in Gaza, which includes 21 points, the United States shared with a number of Arab and Islamic countries earlier this week on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.
The plan states that the United States will hold a dialogue with Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a “political horizon” for “peaceful coexistence”, and Gaza will be “an area free from extremism and terrorism, which does not pose a threat to its neighbors.” It will be re -developed for “Saleh of its people.”
The proposal provides for the end of the war immediately, and the withdrawal of Israel and the return of all living hostages and dead in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian security prisoners who are sentenced to life imprisonment.
The Americans suggest that Gaza be managed by a temporary transitional government of Palestinian technocrats, provided that a temporary international stability force is created, a Palestinian police force is trained, to serve as an internal security apparatus in the long run.
Senior officials told “Channel 13” that there are still differences over the conditions of ending the war, despite the optimism of the United States.
According to Israeli media, although the proposal guarantees the removal of “Hamas” from the ruling in the Strip, the path towards destroying the movement according to the criteria set by Netanyahu and his government is still long.
A senior Israeli official commented to the Haaretz newspaper on the items that Israel objects to that “the chances of returning to the fight after the ceasefire are very small,” and Netanyahu’s circle explained that “any plan must include (Hamas) fully dismantling. We will not give up this. ” Nevertheless, there is great optimism at the Trump administration.
The US President tweeted on his “Truth Social” platform, confirming the existence of constructive talks and a promoter of a deal that will end the war and return the kidnappers.
“We have had extensive negotiations over a period of 4 days, and we will continue as long as it is necessary, in order to successfully reach a full agreement,” Trump said, noting that all countries of the region are involved in the talks.
He added that Israel and the “Hamas” movement are aware of the talks, and said that the talks will continue to be necessary in order to reach an agreement.
