The American Politico newspaper reported that US President Donald Trump promised Arab leaders during a meeting on Tuesday that he would not allow Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to include the West Bank.
The newspaper stated that it had obtained this information from 6 people familiar with the discussion.
Trump promises that Israel does not include the West Bank
She explained that 2 of these people confirmed that Trump was firm in this matter, and promised that Israel would not be allowed to seize the West Bank, which is governed by the Palestinian Authority, not Hamas.
A source told the newspaper that despite Trump’s assurances, the ceasefire to end the Israeli war that has been going on for nearly two years against Hamas has not been close to verifying.
She added that two other people familiar with the matter said that Trump and his team presented a white paper that defines the administration’s plan to end the war, including details about governance and security after the war.
Trump yesterday held a meeting with a number of leaders of Arab and Islamic countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia, Turkey and Pakistan, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, on Tuesday, describing it as its most important meeting for this day.
