US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday the death of right -wing activist and journalist Charlie Kirk as a result of his wounds after he was shot during an event in Utah.
“Charlie Kerk, the legendary, died,” Trump wrote on the “Truth Social” website.
He added, “No one understood or the heart of the youth in the United States has more than Charlie. He was loved and admired by everyone, especially I, and now he left us. ”
Kirk, CEO and co -founder of the Conservative Youth Organization, “Terning Point USA”, was shot on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University, according to the organization.
Kirk was speaking in a debate hosted by his non -profit political organization, and the event was met with contrasts on the university campus.
An electronic petition was calling for the university administration to prevent Kirk from attending about a thousand signatures.
Media reports stated that the bomber was arrested, and he was not a student, noting that Kirk was speaking in front of a large crowd when he was shot.
The American newspaper “The New York Times” said that Kirk, an official in the most prominent right -wing youth organization in the country, was shot in his neck while delivering a speech during an event, and that he is considered “one of the closest Trump’s allies.”
She explained that the young man was wounded by a bullet fired by the port from the Lucy Center, a building about 200 meters from the place of the event.
