The global health confirmed in its statement that the cholera vaccination campaign was launched on September 21, 2025 in the localities of Nyala South, Niala North, and Balel in South Darfur, and on September 22 in the locals of Abu Jabra and Al -Daiden, marking the launch of a campaign aimed at vaccinating 1.86 million people at a year and more with oral cholera vaccines in six localities in the states of Darfur, in response Continuous cholera, the campaign to launch the campaign is being planned in a long locality in northern Darfur before the end of the month.

Cholera cases in Darfur continue to rise at a rate that vows at risk, and the constant conflict and lack of basic services makes it increasingly difficult to support basic health services and provide life -saving medical supplies, including vaccines, nutrition groups and emergency supplies to most areas of the Darfur states, which leads to an increase in the burden of disease, malnutrition and the spread of infectious diseases such as cholera.

Dr. Shebl Al -Sahbani, representative of the World Health Organization and head of its mission in Sudan, said: The World Health Organization teams in Darfur are working tirelessly with health partners to provide the necessary technical and operational support to ensure the success of the campaign to protect the most vulnerable groups in the areas affected by the aggravation of cholera.

He added: The residents of Darfur and all parts of Sudan must be protected from diseases and suffering, and we are here to achieve this just as we have been for decades.

A cholera vaccination campaign was launched in Darfur to protect more than 1.8 million people, reaching 1.86 million doses of vaccines through border operations and across the seam lines of the vaccination campaign.

The World Health Organization, the United Nations Children’s Fund and the Sudanese Ministry of Health have made extensive efforts to deliver oral cholera vaccines to the targeted areas in the states of Darfur, overcoming many arrival and transportation challenges.
