Ethiopia opened the Renaissance Dam, with a major ceremony witnessed by Prime Minister Abi Ahmed and other Addis Ababa officials.
International newspapers reported the official opening of Ethiopia, the largest dam to generate hydroelectric energy in Africa on Tuesday, describing it as a project that will provide energy to Ethiopians and deepen the dispute with Egypt and destabilize the region.
Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed said that Ethiopia will use energy to improve the ability of Ethiopians to access electricity while exporting surplus energy to the region.
The Renaissance Dam and the provocation of Ethiopia
The power generation in the dam, which started in 2011, is scheduled to rise to 5150 megawatts of 750 megawatts that are already produced by the turbine of the stratified.

Engineer Kevli Horo, director of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project, said in a television interview that the project achieves many benefits not only for Ethiopia, but also for the countries of the estuary, especially Sudan and Egypt, claiming that Sudan will benefit from the flow of regular water, low floods, filling tanks and agriculture opportunities throughout the year.
