The Minister of Petroleum discusses with the Cypriot President the developments of linking gas fields and enhancing energy security between the two countries

Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, with Nikos Christodolides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, reviewed the latest developments in existing projects between the two countries to connect the Cypriot gas fields with Egyptian facilities and to enhance energy security in the two countries, and support regional efforts to exploit natural gas resources.

The Minister of Petroleum and Resources emphasized that cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus is a successful model for the regional partnership in the field of natural gas, especially with Egypt’s distinct infrastructure that includes gas liquefaction stations and transportation networks, through which economic integration between the two countries can be achieved and the optimal benefit from the discovered gas resources.

This came during a triple meeting where he met Dr. Bader Abdel -Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad and Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources with Nikos Christodolides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, under the direction of the President of the Republic, during the bilateral visit to Cyprus.

For his part, the President of the Republic of Cyprus conveyed his greetings to the President of the Republic, expressing his pride in the close relations that link the two countries, stressing that Egypt is a basic pillar supporting stability in the Middle East region, expressing his full support for Egyptian efforts to bring peace in the region, and its keenness to enhance the partnership of the European Union with Egypt and ensure its continuation as a supportive force for stability, prosperity and regional cooperation.
