Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Arab Troika meeting, which includes the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Iraq with members of the UN Security Council, on cooperation between the United Nations and the League of Arab States, which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the meetings of the eighties of the United Nations General Assembly.
His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Fouad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Republic of Iraq, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary -General of the League of Arab States participated in the meeting.
He was chaired by the member states of the Security Council, His Excellency Mr. Zhou Hyun, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, who chaired the Security Council at the current session, and in the presence of the foreign ministers of the member states of the Security Council in its current session.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the established support of the Kingdom of Bahrain for every joint Arab effort aimed at strengthening the status of the League of Arab States as an inclusive framework for Arab positions, and the importance of strengthening bridges of communication with the Security Council in order to achieve international peace and security.
He said that this meeting is held at a time when the challenges facing our Arab region are exacerbated, foremost of which is the continuation of the Palestinian issue without a political solution that leads to guaranteeing the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, stressing the adherence to the unified Arab position calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, the need to immediately stop fire in the Gaza Strip, release the hostages and detainees, and accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Foreign Minister stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain believes in the importance of enhancing cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Security Council to confront other crises in our region, whether in Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya or Somalia, through dialogue and diplomatic solutions, in a way that preserves the unity and sovereignty of states and achieves the aspirations of their peoples in security and development.
Ambassador Jamal Faris Al -Ruwaie, the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, and Ambassador Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
