In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and in the framework of the official visit made by His Highness to the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt regarding cooperation in the field of antiquities and museums, as it signed it on the Bahraini side d. Abdel -Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, while it was signed by His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Kajuk, the Egyptian Minister of Finance.
On this occasion, Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, head of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, affirmed the durability of historical and cultural ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Kingdom’s keenness to achieve the highest levels of cooperation and joint coordination in the areas of antiquities and museums between Bahraini and Egyptian cultural institutions. Pointing out that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding confirms the efforts of the two brotherly countries to enhance cultural relations in the areas of antiquities and museums, and reflects the firm Bahraini -Egyptian relations characteristics and a common cultural vision.
The memo aims to encourage joint scientific research, exchange museum and temporary exhibitions of artifacts between the two countries, in addition to holding lectures, scientific seminars and workshops related to the field of antiquities and museums, enhancing the exchange of experiences in the field of survey and archaeological excavation, and implementing joint training programs.
