A number of members of the House and Municipal Councils in Muharraq Governorate stressed the importance of the national project aimed at developing the historic city of Muharraq, which is witnessing in the last period a remarkable progress in the achievement rates, in line with the developmental and cultural goals.
They said, “This important national project comes in implementation of the Royal Order of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the king of the country, may God protect and preserve him, to develop a work plan that specializes in preserving the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain buildings and cities and with the follow -up and interest of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, may God protect him, to activate the executive plan to develop the city of Muharraq.”
They expressed their appreciation for the qualitative achievements within the first phase of the project, which includes preparing the lands of 239 owned properties, the launch of the construction and restoration of 300 housing units, the development of 63 streets and a corridor, in addition to providing more than 360 parking lots, and unifying the elements of lighting, afforestation and commercial signs, reflecting the authentic Bahraini architectural identity.
They praised the role of the government team in following up the implementation of the project in the field, and ensuring the progress of work in it according to the specified timetable, stressing that keenness to coordinate joint between the concerned authorities contributed to achieving remarkable progress, and making the project a model for integrated urban development at the level of the Kingdom and the region.
In this regard, Representative Hamad Farouk Al -Dawi, a member of the House of Representatives, stressed that the start of construction works to provide and restore 300 housing units within the first phase of the project of developing the city of Muharraq comes as an embodiment to preserve the historical and heritage dimension of Muharraq, and to revive authentic customs, traditional professions and historical markets, as well as the role of art and trade that the province has been famous for since ancient times.
He pointed to the concerted efforts to implement the Royal Decree of His Majesty, the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, by preserving the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain buildings and cities, reviving the Issa Kabir Palace and developing the city of Muharraq, in a way that preserves its historical and cultural identity.
He praised the plan to develop the city of Muharraq, which witnessed the implementation of a number of steps, including the issuance of the project’s guideline guide, the launch of the project’s official page on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning website, and the conduct of the field survey of real estate to be acquired within the scope of the project, in addition to appointing the consulting company to design the neighborhoods, to the procedures related to the acquisition of real estate located in the development areas.
In turn, Representative Hisham Al -Awadi, a member of the House of Representatives, said that the city of Muharraq embodies its ancient history with a distinctive cultural and historical heritage, as its historical details are a prominent sign that reflects the past of the ancient Kingdom of Bahrain, and the project of developing the city of Muharraq comes in implementation of the royal command of the king of the country, may God protect and preserve it, with the aim of preserving the historical and cultural identity of the city, and in line with sustainable development efforts.
He indicated that the trend to restore the authentic spirit of Muharraq, in addition to the balance of its population composition by providing an integrated and appropriate infrastructure that is carried out in coordination and cooperation between the ministries and institutions of the Kingdom of Bahrain with the support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, may God protect and preserve him, who is keen that all the details of the project are in line with the authentic Bahraini identity, as it represents a tangible and important step in meeting the housing needs of citizens.
He pointed out that the project reflects the keenness of the esteemed government to improve the quality of life and enhance social stability, as it contributes to preserving the distinguished urban fabric of the ancient city of Muharraq, and meeting the aspirations of the people towards a more sophisticated and comfortable residential environment.
For his part, Representative Abdul Wahid Qaralata, a member of the House of Representatives, expressed the pride of the people of Muharraq to start construction work to provide and restore 300 housing units within the first phase of the project of developing the city of Muharraq, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, looking forward to completing the entire project as soon as possible.
He said, “This major national project is a qualitative shift in the march of urban and social development in Muharraq Governorate, and reflects the Kingdom’s keenness led by His Majesty the King, may God protect and preserve him, to improve the quality of life and provide adequate housing for citizens, in order to achieve stability and safety for Bahraini families, and enhances the position of Muharraq and preserves its authentic Bahraini identity.”
He appreciated the national efforts made by ministries and institutions to implement this vital project, which will contribute to reviving the authentic urban heritage while keeping pace with the requirements of the times, stressing the importance of following up the stages of implementation according to the highest quality and transparency standards.

He indicated that the Muharraq Municipal Council is following the interest of everything that contributes to creating an integrated urban environment that preserves the identity of the city and at the same time meets the needs of future generations, expressing its pride in the efforts of the official authorities and national cadres in various government agencies.
For her part, Mrs. Dalal Al -Muqawi, a member of the Muharraq Municipal Council, said, “This project is one of the important projects that“ Umm Al -Modon ”enjoyed, as it includes the revival of the Issa Kabir Palace, the construction of housing units, the preservation of the historical identity of Muharraq, the improvement of infrastructure, and the preservation of heritage monuments, considering that this constitutes the pillars of an integrated national project that everyone looks forward to implementing in various regions of Muharraq.

Mr. Abdul Qadir Al -Sayed, member of the Municipal Council of Muharraq, stressed the importance of the project that is in meeting the housing needs of citizens and improving the level of services in the city, pointing to the tangible efforts made by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to provide appropriate housing and enhance the quality of life in various regions of the Kingdom.
