The Technical Committee of the Muharraq Municipal Council recommended approval of the request to freeze the work of the plan for the Arad area in the 242 complex, after receiving a number of notes from the families and real estate owners in the region regarding the recent amendments. The committee emphasized that stopping the work temporarily allows the study to study the observations submitted and set appropriate solutions before proceeding to implement.
The members of the council explained that the people made many observations that require taking them into consideration to ensure the justice of the distribution of lands and the achievement of the public interest.
For his part, the representative of the seventh district, Ahmed Al -Muqawi, affirmed that the council supports the government’s directions and strategic plans in the field of urban planning, but he called for a review of the current plan because of its problems. He pointed out that some of the people were affected by the deduction of rates from their lands ranging between 2% and 11%, in addition to other cases in which lands were purchased from the municipality and then withdrawn without compensation, considering that such cases need a fair treatment that guarantees the rights of citizens.
At the end of the discussion, the Municipal Municipal Council voted unanimously on the recommendation of the technical committee to freeze the work of the plan until the completion of the study and the observations of the people and the member of the department.
