Today (Monday), the French Parliament voted to bring down the government because of its plans to curb the inflationary public debt, which exacerbated the political crisis, and entrusted to President Emmanuel Macron the task of choosing the fifth prime minister in less than two years.
364 deputies voted in favor of confidence, while only 194 showed their support for Bayro. “According to Article 50 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must submit the resignation of his government,” said the president of the association, Yael Bron-Bevieh.
Francois Bayro, 74, took over the position of Prime Minister just 9 months ago. He must now submit his resignation, leaving Macron in front of limited options, in light of indications of financial markets concern about the political and financial crisis in France.
The Elysee Palace announced that Macron will be a new prime minister “in the coming days”, and the Prime Minister’s office told Reuters that Bayro will submit his resignation tomorrow morning.
