The Dutch parliament witnessed an exciting incident after MP Esther Ofhamand was expelled during the discussion of the budget project, after her rise to the podium, wearing a shirt bearing the colors of the Palestinian flag.

Parliament Speaker Martin Boussa boycotted her speech and considered that what she had done is a provocative matter, asking her to change her clothes in respect of the bases of the session, according to the British Times.

Ofhamand initially refused, stressing that she did not find in the laws that prevent wearing clothes in red, green, white and white colors, but later had to leave the hall and return with a new shirt bearing the slogan of the watermelon, a common symbol of solidarity with the Palestinians on social media platforms.

For its part, the Parliament administration justified the situation by stressing the principle of neutrality and the need not to involve political symbols inside the hall.

It is noteworthy that Ufand is known for its supportive positions of the Palestinians, and she had previously called for a ban on the export of weapons to Israel because of the war on Gaza, and at the end of her intervention, she stressed its continuous standing alongside the Palestinians and the importance of granting priority to protect the most vulnerable groups.
