Petroleum: Directing a unified safety strategy in preparation for its application to all companies to protect workers
The visit comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to enhance cooperation to consolidate the culture of occupational safety, health and operations as one of the strategic axes of the sector, through an extended partnership with Methanx in developing the operations safety system with oil, gas and petrochemical activities.
Methanex Egypt is a joint company between the Egyptian Petroleum Sector and the Methanex Global Company for Methanol, with a production capacity of approximately 1.3 million tons annually.
The visit included a field tour within the site to follow up on operation, control and prevention mechanisms, and safety systems and standards applied in accordance with the best international practices, as Methanex Egypt presented the company’s march in the field of safety, since the early stages of establishing a safety culture within the work site, through the challenges it faced and the initiatives it launched to overcome, to the awareness campaigns that have strengthened over the years the consolidation of this culture. The development in its application to make occupational safety, health and safety of operations is a permanent priority that develops through continuous commitment, dialogue and continuous improvement.
For his part, Eng. Yassin Mohamed stressed the necessity of developing a unified safety strategy that applies to all sector companies to protect workers ’lives and preserve the environment and property, which contributes to creating a safe and attractive work environment for investment according to the fifth axis of the ministry’s strategy.
Mohamed Shendi, Managing Director of Methanx Egypt, also expressed his happiness with the visit of Eng. Yassin, confirming his pride in partnership with the ministry and the keenness to enhance the exchange of experiences to achieve the highest safety standards.
