The new British Interior Minister, Shaabbana Mahmoud, said that the country will suspend visas to countries that do not agree to the return of immigrants, and pledged “to do everything necessary” to stop crossing the small boats.
On its third day in the position, Mahmoud revealed discussions with the “Five El Ayoun” allies of Britain – the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Canada – regarding “coordination of work” to address irregular migration, according to the British News Agency (BA Media).
In a meeting with the ministers from the alliance in London, she told the media networks: “This means for us the possibility of the inclusion of the visa to be suspended in the future,” according to “DPA”.
She added: “We expect countries to cooperate and comply with the rules, and if one of your citizens does not have the right to be in our country, you need to return it,” according to her expression.
Her statements come after a pledge by the UK Reform Party to use a mixture of financial incentives and sanctions, including a possible restriction of visas, to secure the return agreements as part of a commitment to deporting 600,000 people over the next five years.
