The representative of the eighth district of the Muharraq Municipal Council, Mohamed Al -Muqawi, praised the great efforts made by the General Traffic Department, pointing to its prominent role in organizing traffic, especially with the start of the school year and the increase in intensity on the streets. He called for a study of the possibility of determining an appropriate speed for trucks in line with traffic safety requirements.
Al -Muqawi stressed during the council session the importance of cooperation with the General Administration of Traffic in developing solutions to reduce truck accidents on the Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Bridge, pointing out that some drivers are driving at high speeds and in a reckless manner, which poses a danger to the lives of citizens and residents, pointing to the occurrence of severe incidents in the past, stressing the council’s keenness not to repeat these serious incidents. He stressed that reducing speed on the bridge would contribute to reducing accidents and preserving lives and property.
