Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, and Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, signed today, Monday, at the bank’s headquarters, a cooperation protocol to support and provide educational scholarships for outstanding students benefiting from the Takaful and Dignity initiative and students who were exempt from expenses by the Ministry of Education during the year 2024/2025 as well as students affected by the suspension of the American aid program, as of the next school year, in the framework of support The Egyptian state’s vision to achieve sustainable development and social justice, upgrade the quality of education, and to enhance the principle of justice and equal opportunities.

The signing ceremony was attended by Tariq Al -Khouli, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, Mohamed Shaaban, Governor Undersecretary for Legal Affairs, Mrs. Shahira Mustafa, Governor of the Central Administration of the Board of Directors of the Board of Directors, Ghada Tawfiq, Governor Undersecretary for Social Responsibility, Mr. Mohamed Amer, Assistant Governor Undersecretary for the Banking Operations Sector, and Nahal Orkhan, Acting Chairman of the Central Administration for Institutional Communication, along with Dr. Maher Mesbah, Secretary of the National Universities Council, Dr. Hussein Issa, former President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Joudeh Ghanem, Head of the Education Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Sharif Keshk, Assistant Minister for Smart Governance, and Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The first protocol aims to provide comprehensive educational scholarships for outstanding students who are unable, while giving priority to students of border governorates and people with determination, in the scientific disciplines that the state needs in various geographical regions, in a way that contributes to preparing a generation capable of creativity and effective contribution to achieving sustainable development in society.

The protocol also includes allocating an account in all banks of the banking sector to receive donations and donations from citizens, public and private bodies or charitable work institutions, in a manner that ensures the sustainability and continuity of the initiative.

The second protocol aims to support and finance the costs of subsistence and residence for 846 students who were affected by the suspension of the American aid program, and the ministry provided them with scholarships in private, private and governmental universities, and the branches of foreign universities in Egypt.

On this occasion, the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt stated that the signing of these two protocols embodies the commitment of the Central Bank of Egypt and the banking sector to support the state’s plans to achieve sustainable development, based on a firm belief that investing in the human element is the main pillar of economic and social development.

The Governor affirmed the central bank’s keenness to expand the scope of social responsibility initiatives for the banking sector supporting the education sector as the main driver for development and progress in any society, adding that the signing of a cooperation protocol is a practical step to enable students to complete their education, and achieve their aspirations without obstacles, in a way that contributes to building a strong economy and a prosperous society.

For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research thanked the Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt for his support for the higher education system through supportive social responsibility initiatives.

The minister pointed out that for the first time, protocols are signed to cooperate with the central bank with the aim of supporting outstanding students with the follow -up of their academic performance, stressing that these protocols represent a new addition to the academic scholarship system that is currently present, which is presented to outstanding students to complete their university studies through multiple tracks that include private and private universities and branches of foreign universities and the various academic academies of the Ministry to achieve social justice Equal opportunities.

The minister also revealed that the ministry launched a website to receive the requests of students wishing to obtain complete scholarships in private universities, including study, accommodation and subsistence expenditures, according to a set of conditions that guarantee transparency and equal opportunities among all applicants.
