Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez decided to send a warship to provide assistance and support to the steadfast fleet to break the siege on the Gaza Strip, after he was subjected to successive attacks from drones.
Sanchez said in a statement posted on his account on the “X” platform that the Spanish government, to comply with international law and respect the right of its citizens to sail safe in the Mediterranean.
He added, “Tomorrow, a marine operations ship will sail with all the necessary resources from Cartagena in anticipation of the necessity of helping the fleet and carrying out a rescue operation.”
This step comes in the wake of a similar Italian step, as Italian Defense Minister Guido Cruzeito condemned, on Wednesday, the attack that took place during the night on the international resilience fleet, which is seeking to deliver aid to Gaza.
Cruzeito, who belongs to the “Italian Brothers” party led by Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, who is leading a right -wing government coalition, said in a statement that he had directed an Italian navy ship to move towards the fleet to provide assistance.
Cruzeito stressed the need to protect the peaceful protest forms that are compatible with international law in democratic systems.
He said: “We can only express our strong condemnation of the attack that has been carried out in the past few hours, unknown people, using drones on the ships of Al -Samoud fleet that include Italian citizens.”
He pointed out that the Italian navy frigate “Vasan”, located in the north of Crete, is on its way to the area to help its citizens.
Earlier, activists supporters of the Palestinians who were trying to reach the Gaza Strip on a aid fleet announced that they were bombed and heard “explosions” amid the flight of “several” plane aircraft “near them off the coast of Greece.
“Several of the aircraft were brought down by anonymous bodies, communications were disturbed, and explosions were heard from a number of boats.”
