According to what was published through some accounts on Tek Tok and Instagram, the creature changes its color with sunlight, leaves holes in plants, and it is said that it is moving automatically without the need for air or food, and this novel quickly met with great popularity, to attract the attention of thousands of followers and raises speculation about the possibility of a mysterious or even space object.
But biologists have made it clear that what appeared in the video is not an alien, but rather a type of mushroom known as Clathrus Archeri, and it is also called the fingers of Satan or the octopus of the stinking century, and this mushroom usually grows from a white egg buried in the soil, then it quickly stretches a red arms similar to glows, covered with a black substance filled with bogs.
The scientists emphasized that the movement that sparked the controversy may be the result of wind, insects, or natural expansion of mushrooms, while the change of color and its impact on the surrounding plants is due to its chemical properties and its severe sensitivity to light.
While users of communication sites continue to circulate videos and funny comments on Phenum Phenum, experts believe that the incident reveals again how natural phenomena can turn into fertile material for rumors and legends on digital platforms.
