A soldier from the “Golani” brigade – Monday – ended his life inside a military base in northern Israel, bringing the number of suicide soldiers in the occupation army since the beginning of this year to 18 soldiers, according to an official Israeli media.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the suicide soldier was serving within the ranks of the brigade with the regular service, and was found dead inside the base. For its part, the military police opened an investigation into the incident, and that its results later be transferred to the Military Prosecution.
The Israeli body did not disclose the circumstances of the incident or the name of the base in which the suicide occurred.
This comes about two weeks after Captain Yusef Haim, 28, who was found dead in the bushes near “Ramat Puria” in northern Israel, and another of the Armored Brigade 401 called Raise Vaserstein after being subjected to horrific scenes during the war on Gaza, according to the Israeli army radio.
Last July, he witnessed the suicide of 7 soldiers, according to the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz”, which prompted the head of the Human Forces Division of the Army, Dadu Bar Califa, to form a committee to examine the level of psychological and social support provided to the authorized soldiers and reserves.
According to a military investigation published last month, most suicide cases date back to “harsh conditions” faced by the Israeli soldiers during the military operations in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, data revealed by Israeli media indicated that more than 10,000 soldiers are still being treated from mental reactions and post -traumatic disorder, but only 3,769 soldiers have been recognized as adapting to post -traumatic disorder, and they receive specialized treatment.
