Dr. Mustafa Waziri, the former Secretary -General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, revealed the discovery of sunken antiquities in the Abu Qir region, west of southern Alexandria, explaining that the remains include a masculine temple due to the high level of sea and flood water.

Waziri pointed out during television comments, that a huge statue dating back to the Ptolemaic era, in addition to 6 pieces of columns, a piece of white marble, a stone scale, a grain mills, a ship containing a nuts and fossilized bases and pottery pots dating back to the late Byzantine era, along with bronze currencies from the Roman era.
The former Secretary -General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities explained that what we see from the surface of the earth and under it represents only less than 40% of the Egyptian archaeological heritage, stressing that this new disclosure represents a great opportunity for advertising for Egyptian tourism and antiquities and highlights the importance of preserving this civilized heritage.
