The Indian Ambassador to Cairo, Sorech Reddy, affirmed his country’s fixed support for the aspirations of the Palestinian people, noting that India was one of the first countries to recognize the State of Palestine in 1988, and still believes in a two -state solution as a path to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace.

In statements to Cairo 24, the Indian ambassador praised the Egyptian efforts in settling the situation in the Gaza Strip, especially the pivotal role in Cairo in the mediation of the ceasefire and the calm of the escalation.

Reddy added that India continues its support to the Palestinians by financing development projects and providing annual financial contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), stressing New Delhi’s commitment to its historical and principled position towards the Palestinian issue.
