Today, Monday, US President Donald Trump received his Ukrainian counterpart, Voludimir Zellinski, at the White House Casablanca. Trump said he believed that there is progress made regarding the end of the war in Ukraine, and that it could lead to his meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to positive results.

Trump reiterated his desire to hold a US -Russian -Ukrainian American trilogy in the event of “everything is fine” during the meeting with Zellinski. “We will hold a meeting. I think that if everything goes well, we will hold a triple summit, and I think that when this happens, there will be a reasonable opportunity to end the war,” the US President said while receiving his Ukrainian counterpart.

He added that Ukraine will not join NATO, pointing out that “there are now details about the US security guarantees of Ukraine.” Trump announced that his country will participate in providing security guarantees within the potential peace agreement to end the war with Russia.

In his statements to reporters at the White House, along with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zellinski, Trump said that European countries “are the first line of defense because they are there, because they are Europe, and we will also help it, we will be participants.”

He added in the Oval Office, along with Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski, that he had supervised the meeting of Zelinski. Trump expressed his confidence in Russia’s desire to settle the Ukrainian crisis. He told reporters at the White House: “I trust that Vladimir Putin wants to end this,” commenting, saying, “I think we are making progress.”

He said that he would call his Russian counterpart after his meeting with Zelinski, and that the three leaders will be likely to hold a meeting. Trump explained that the United States will be involved in the security of Ukraine in the future.

For his part, Zelinski thanked Trump for his efforts to “stop killing” in Ukraine, stressing that “the war must be stopped.” He stressed that his country supported the idea that Trump stop the war with Russia and to find a diplomatic solution to end it, adding: “We need to stop this war, stop Russia, and support our American and European partners. We will do our best to achieve this, and I think we have proven our strength.”

The Ukrainian President also again expressed his willingness to a “triple dialogue” with his American and Russian counterparts, Vladimir Putin.

In another context, Zelinski confirmed his willingness to hold elections in Ukraine in safe conditions if the war with Russia ends. He said: “We need to work in Parliament, because elections cannot be held during the war,” adding that it is necessary that the people can hold democratic, transparent and legal elections.

Earlier today, Monday, European leaders arrived at the White House to participate in talks with Trump and Zellinski.

NATO Secretary General NATO Mark Route, European Commission President Ursula von der Line, British Prime Minister Kiir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Styab, and German adviser Friedrich Mertz, are scheduled to join French President Emmanuel Macron.
