In a funny incident in the Chinese province of Sichuan, a judge resorted to an unconventional solution to end a dispute between a couple over the ownership of 29 chickens during the divorce procedures.
The couple and Yang were raising poultry as an income source, and they owned 53 birds between chicken and geese and ducks and despite the ease of dividing the geese and ducks equally, one chicken remained in conflict, as the wife insisted on keeping it on the pretext that she took care of her care, while the husband confirmed that he participated in caring for her.

According to Audity Central, Judge Chen Qian suggested two options: that the couple take the chicken together, or to make up for one another financially in exchange for keeping it.
After the meal, the husband brought his ex -wife to her home on his electric bike, and the two parties agreed on material independence with continued mutual support and maintaining the friendship relationship.
The story received a widespread interaction on the communication platforms in China, where one of the users jokingly commented that the judge made a fair solution, but the real victim was the chicken, while another questioned if the chicken soup might push them to retract the divorce.
This incident comes at a time when China is witnessing a remarkable increase in divorce rates, in 2023 more than 3.6 million cases, an increase from the previous year.
